The Courage To Blog

Dear Diary…… Isn’t that how they used to start? Whatever it takes to summon the courage to blog.

This whole Blog concept is a bit new to me. Not that I am that out of touch. I know what a blog is, but why write one? When I was younger, much younger, I did keep a journal. It used to help me keep my thoughts somewhat in order. It didn’t last long. I guess this is the new journal.

Why a blog though? As I was thinking about it, I realized it’s less about me and much more about you.

When people read blogs, they aren’t really reading it for the writer. They are seeing what similarities they have with the blogger and what lessons they can pull away from the content. That concept seems much more appealing to me, because quite frankly I’m not that special.

I think that is the thing that has held me back from writing a blog over the years. No one wants to read about me or my ideas. But when I finally came to the realization that they aren’t really reading it because of me but more so because of themselves. Put it this way, people search for blogs based on their interests or needs.

Most recently, I have found myself searching the internet for stories similar to mine. I want to be able to identify with people in my situation. It is not about who those people are. I would never meet them anyway. It is about knowing that there are people in similar situations to me and I get curious as to how they are handling themselves. What is life like? What are their hopes and dreams?

My hope is maybe, just maybe those who seek this blog out will identify with something or a concept will resonate with them in order to help them in some way.

For that reason, this blog is anonymous to really protect myself and my family. Call me a phony (and I usually dislike anything anonymous) but for a variety of reasons my job will be to write, think and feel. There is no need to bring my family into this, because it isn’t about us. This is about you.

With that being said, I will do my best to bring authentic content that is very raw and real. Hopefully, those reading these anecdotes, stories and, well, blogs, will be able to come away with hope for their future to.

So here goes. Let’s get after the courage to blog.
